| Skybolt Now Shipping 6 Complete New Versions of the SK2003-10A Series
Platemounts. (Patent Pending)
IN STOCK NOW! Skybolt is pleased to announce FAA/TSO Approval and product availability of the SK2003-14A cowling mount. Over 26,400 active aircraft use this mount with the Southco #82 fastener. That equates to 288,455 of these mounts in service. As the -14 (fixed depth) mount is the most prominent part, it is also the most difficult part to produce at a competitive price. Since Skybolt created our newest platemount design in 2009; so new, we applied for a US patent; we have experienced one trial after another to get the part exactly to our requirement that it meet and exceed the properties of the OEM part and not require a fastener replacement. In other words, this is a true replacement part. Because of the design and action of the Southco #82 fastener and because of the .020 tolerance built into the Southco design, the Skybolt replacement had to be right on the money to claim “replacement”. We got it right, and while we focused on getting it right, we substantially improved the quality. As with all the of the Skybolt SK2003 Series mounts, going back to our introduction in 2001, under most circumstances, if it fails, we replace it. Can Cessna or Lord make that claim? A claim Skybolt will not make is “One size fits all”. If we could, we would try, but to do so something has to be compromised. Our goal was to not compromise on anything that would allow a weak link in the chain. Cycle time is definitely compromised! We have yet to identify a market that will live with short product life. For good reason, do not look for a “one size fits all” claim from Skybolt.
